Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Mood: Irritated
Listening to: The telly.
Reading: Blackbeard, A Tale of Villainy and Murder
Watching: Penguins of Madagascar.
Playing: Nothing at the moment.
Eating: Cereal.
Drinking: Water.

My hair looks better when my hair parts on the right. It follows along with my sideswept bangs that way because they go to the left. My friend's Jane wig is made to part on the right. It's a bit difficult to put the part on the other side.

I am perfectly aware that this may not be accurate to the original character designs (I watch the show people), but does that really make much of a difference? I don't think so. People still recognize who we are trying to look like, and we've gotten some damn good compliments (and hugs!) about it.

I'm not trying to sound like a b*tch, but it's just annoying when people assume I don't really know about the character I'm cosplaying.

If you're going to comment on those photos simply to say, "Well this or that is wrong" then please do not waste your time.

Some people just want to point things out that are wrong. I mean, with most cosplays, unless you're rich, something is ever so slightly not "accurate". It's OBVIOUSLY Daria, and it's AWESOME. I think I saw only a couple of episodes of the actual show, and I knew who you were instantly. Unless your hair was cropped uber short and you didn't wear a wig, though it's hardly the end of the world, I could understand maybe a tad more the need to comment on the hair, but really? Just because it's parted to a different side? Silly. Anyway, you're awesome, and no one should say otherwise ^-^ Us old 23 year olds have to stick together

I have searched Daria cosplays here on dA. It is cool mine are popping up more often. I need to record a video for youtube quoting some lines or something, haha.
People aren't really posting "negative" comments. They'll say how it looks good BUT this little bit isn't right, like the part in my hair. I'm just thinking, 'Well I'm glad this person seems to like it, but...really? Come on.'
One time however I did get someone who simply posted something like, "Oh I recognize this show. It's freaking old." My face went -_-
To which I responded, "Well, I must be pretty ancient at my age of 23."
It just makes me want to pull my hair out sometimes, lol.

I know what you mean, and people are really stupid if they can't see which character it is just because of that.

I mean, I also have to make a few changes to my costume for Desucon, for example; I couldn't find normal red contactlenses so I had to buy some with catpupils and Mevt actually has grey hair but I have to dye it white instead.

People recognize who I'm cosplaying. It's just I don't have every little minute detail. I'm completely aware of that.
I think it really matters if someone just takes the time to make their cosplay look good. I know Daria is kind of a simple one, but at least I did the best I could. I'm happy enough I can use my own hair instead of dealing with a wig.
So you're dying your hair for Mevt? Have you tried looking for a silverish-grey color? I think that would look pretty bad ass. :]

Yeah, I've looked after all kinds of grey/white/silver haircolours, but I could only find one, and it's from the internet, so yeah. I think I'm getting that one, because it's a gel so I can remove it quickly, and... I've looked everywhere in my town for any kind of white haircolour, but I can't find anything. xD
