I know I have been quite inactive the past month, alot of private stuff going on and upcoming exams, but I will try to be more active again from now on. Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Meeko (my cat) has been doing better! I think every now and then she's going to get these stomach upsets and not feel well for a day and night. I tend to freak out when anything goes wrong with her because her vet and my mom are always saying how old she is. Then in my head I'm all like, 'What if I find her not breathing in the morning? We pounced together when she was a kitten...' And then I start crying. She's being herself again though.

True story about the pouncing by the way. It was a major bonding moment. I'll never forget it.

Tomorrow I'm putting in my two weeks notice at my job. I've learned I am not cut out for retail (I absolutely hate it), and the store where I work has terrible registers. They keep crapping out, and then customers get pissed off at us. The store is also just really incompetent on other things, but I'll keep that to myself. I may be working at a hotel in January though, so I'm glad about that. It's closer to where I live, they'll probably give me more hours, and after so long I'll get a discount on hotels of the same chain. Figured that could be nifty for conventions. I really hope that works out well.

And next weekend is AnimeUSA! I'm really excited! That Saturday I'm still set for the Daria go go dancer cosplay, but Saturday and Sunday I'm still not sure.

and I may be Daria and Jane one of those days. That would be cool since they're easy and comfy cosplays. Either way, should be fun!

So happy to hear Meeko is doing better. It's always scary to think about those times. I remember when I lost Haley,she was my best friend. Parents had her since before I was born. But relish all the time you have with her, and when that time comes, just accpet it was her time,and think of pouncing together,all the snuggles and other good times. I'm so happy you get more time

Retail is difficult for sure. I think the only thing worse is dealing with people and their food. They get mean >.< I wish you luck with jobs stuffs.

I'm going to drive around today and search for places that are hiring in my town. I hope someone is!
