A bad artist.
According to today's standards. And I'm somone who has come to doubt the concept of time, as that in itself was a human creation.
I enjoy photo realism. I like taking time with the technicality of it. I think it's a little more magical than just snapping a photo of someone.
I've learned this from a few people, mostly professors at my university. Although there was one that actually enjoyed what I did (Fedja Soretic, that man is so kind), and he's a renowned artist in Europe. He said my painting reminded him of Toulouse Lautrec, and that he was quite impressed with my drawing skills.
I know photo-realism is....old, in style. But learning that you're a bad artist after all the effort is a little hard to take. But, what can ya do?
All in all, it does depress me a bit. But oh well. I know my stuff looks well enough, so that's all that matters, I suppose.
::sigh::
I am not posting this fishing for compliments. I have already received plenty of those, both in text and in person, although they've become more difficult to accept. I am merely posting some thoughts. That is all.
Just checked out your gallery, especially the drawings, and they are fantastic
You're very, very, very talented and it would be a shame to let such talent go to waste whoever said you're a bad artist is just jealous.
And I do love random, so thank you again!
Thanks again.
Being a "good" artist is very individual. If I for example compare myself to some of the best artists on dA, I'm not a good artist. But if I compare myself to many others here on dA, I'm pretty good. I don't believe that there's a point where you suddenly go from being a bad artist to being a good artist.
