I thought this movie was AWESOME. Sure there were some parts that were kinda eehhh...but all in all I really enjoyed it. It was a nice change from the oh so seriousness of the previous two films (not that I don't love them, lol).

I went to the midnight premiere with :iconcapnlynz: and Heather. We were the only people who had dressed up, Lindsey and I looking more piratical than anyone else. It was really fun.

Barbossa, once again, stole my heart. He's absolutely my favorite. Such a pirate's pirate. I just love his character. He's certainly a pirate I wouldn't mind being best friends with.

And Blackbeard...

OH. MY. GOD.

Ian McShane was superb! When he emerged out of the darkness with the cannon wicks smoking out of his beard and then his face becoming illuminated and looking JUST LIKE the famous illustration of Edward Teach I freaking lost it. I was like AAAHHHH!!!! Just so amazing. And his sword being like the keys to the Queen Anne's Revenge was perfect.

The mermaids were scary as all hell. I wasn't expecting (spoiler alert!) vampire teeth, their certain appetite for human flesh, or their seaweed Spiderman ability. Their tails were so pretty though! I really like how they were designed. I was slightly confused by the religious man's (his name escapes me at the moment) sudden feelings for Syrena, though. Will and Elizabeth weren't in it so there I suppose there was some requirement for a young lovey-dovey couple. Speaking of Elizabeth not being in it...

I loved that! I have to admit it. I'm honestly not a big fan of Keira Knightly (I'm prepared for any hate I may receive for that comment). I just got tired of her character and her jutting jaw when she speaks.

I thought Penelope Cruz did really well. Her (spoiler alert again) impersonation of Jack was interesting, especially when he kisses her after their swordfight. I was just like O.O "I am utterly confused right now..."

And the music! I loved the Spanish guitar woven in with the well-known melodies. I have to get the soundtrack!

In closing, I found this beautiful version of the Davy Jones lullaby with lyrics. This lady's voice is lovely! Hope you enjoy.

And also, my Yia Yia is doing much better! My dad says she should be out of the hospital by Monday.  :D

I'm glad you had fun. I look foward to seeing it at some point. Hah, I'm not a Kiera Knightly fan at all myself, so to hear she's not in it much makes me very happy.

Yeah, her absence was a blessing, haha.

Haha indeed. I'm sure I'll enjoy it much more with her abscence. :)

it was fun, the mermaids certainly hadn't had the best experience with man, its no wonder they attacked.

Barbossa showing up as a brit privateer, that was funny in that silly whig, he has no loyalty to anyone but himself.

Jack Sparrow was awesome, i readf about a complaint that the fight scene between him and Penelope Cruz was reminicent of the first movie with one exception, neither is Orlando Bloom!

anyway Johhny and penelope on screen, no way, that's never happen befroe, oh wait, BLOW, they did okay and she is as smart as Sparrow, blackbeard is like Sparrow who suprisingly has some morals as blackbeard has absolutely none.

Gahhh, I'm afraid to read the entire journal because there may be spoilers. xD But anyway, cool that you enjoyed the movie, I kinda wanna see it even more. I didn't want to see it at first because I thought that a fourth movie just couldn't be any good.

I didn't think it was possible for the franchise to produce a movie that I
adored as much as the original... but I think they've succeeded!
The court scene had me rolling in the aisles! xD But I think my favorite
part had to be in Ponce de Leon's Captain's Quarters. Best homage to
the ride yet, I think! :ahoy: And the Spanish guitar music was my favorite!

Agreed on the lack of Elizabeth!! (And Will, for me. Granted, Orlando Bloom
is beautiful... but after the first movie, he lost the ability to act.)

P.S. The clergy man's name was Philip. I believe he loved Syrena because
she seemed so pure.

When Barbossa mouthed, "Don't touch the map" I laughed so hard. That was great!
